I think you will agree with me when I say just how lovely Victoria & Rachael’s wedding day was. Perfectly pairing both contemporary and classic wedding traditions. A combination that creates a truely personal day.

The day began at the beautiful Dorset House, where Victoria & Rachael spent their morning together. Then, with the help of their Mums, taking the time to get into their wedding dresses. Which had been kept as a surprise from each other. Followed by a beautiful first look.

What is a wedding day first look?
What is a wedding day first look? I hear you ask. The first look is a private moment for the couple ahead of the wedding. It usually takes place once the couple are dressed and ready for their ceremony. And is a lovely chance for them to spend some time together, before greeting their guests.
Why I love first look wedding photos
It’s clear to see why first look wedding photos are like gold to a photographer. It’s the perfect moment for candid and natural couples portraits, full of all the love and emotion that ties a wedding day together. Whilst also breathing a breath of fresh air into wedding traditions. That you might be surprised to hear, originated from historic sexism within society. The history of weddings and how society and culture shaped them is fascinating. If you’d like to know more, keep an eye on the blog, I’ll soon be sharing more on sexist wedding traditions.
Victoria & Rachael’s personal twist on their wedding day didn’t stop at the first look. From the moment they started planning, they had known they both wanted to be walked into the ceremony by their parents, simultaneously. And from there would walk down the aisle together. Not many venues would have the scope to create the ceremony they envisioned. But River Cottage has the perfect combination of rustic charm and flexibility that enables couples to plan a truly personal wedding day. From a photographer’s perspective, flexibility is a feature of the very best wedding venues around. A personal and unique wedding day guarantees I’m always feeling inspired to capture creative wedding photography. Allowing me to create wedding photos that are as unique as the couples in them.
