Our favourite venues for creative wedding photography
by Wedding Photographer Gloucestershire
Today, we’re looking back over the last year and sharing some of our favourite wedding venues to photograph. Sneaking in a couple from last year too that I couldn’t resist sharing. Each venue is loved for different reason. But each one keeps us feeling inspired so we can capture creative wedding photography for each of our couples.
River Cottage has to be one of my all time favourite wedding venues.
Situated on a working farm River Cottage is full of amazing spots for photos. Each location changing with the seasons so each wedding is unique.
Not only that but throw in a tractor ride to the cottage. And outdoor summer ceremonies or getting cosy by the fire in winter. It really is a delight to shoot here any time of the year.
River Cottage also have some of the nicest venue staff we’ve worked with. They are always super helpful which means we can do the best job possible.
Soon I’ll be sharing a post on why I love photographing at River Cottage, which you’ll be able to check out here.
If you’re looking for a River Cottage Wedding Photographer, I would love to hear from you.
Above is the farm house, just hours before Jack & Sally’s Autumn wedding. Which despite Storm Bryan, was an absolute blast. On a clear day, the cottage catches the most beautiful sunsets. But if the weathers bad the yurt and it’s open fire makes for a cosy hideaway. Some venues rely so much on good weather, but not River Cottage.
The Clock Barn in Hampshire is also one of this years best wedding venues. Shooting here in summer was a delight. But similar to River Cottage, The Clock Barn has separate areas for the ceremony and party. But has the added bonus of a huge cosy snug. Perfect for guests who want to chill out or providing extra space is bad weather forces you in doors. That said, if you’re blessed with beautiful sunny weather. The Clock Barn is a part of a working farm. Coming with beautiful gardens, an area for lawn games, a wild meadow.
Not to mention the sweeping drive and the farm’s outbuildings just a short stroll away from the barn. There are so many different areas for couples portraits, you can really make each wedding unique. Which is really important to us when we’re photographing weddings. As it allows us to capture the most natural wedding photography. Because no two of our couples are the same, so why would we try and recreate the same image again and again.
Charingworth Manor is in the heart of The Cotswolds in Gloucestershire. Not only is this beautiful venue super local to us. But it feels totally secluded and private. With sweeping views that surround the 700 year old manor house, it’s a perfect country get away. It has onsite accommodation, a pool, spa and tennis courts. Which is an added bonus if you’re love being active or want to enjoy some quality time with your family and friends over the wedding weekend.
Now it just wouldn’t be right to not include a couple of last years amazing wedding venues. Islington Town Hall in London is such a beautiful building. It’s corridors capture the most amazing sunlight on a summers afternoon. And in the heart of the capital you have such an amazing choice of reception venues. Vic & Josh celebrated their wedding at their local pub after tying the know last summer.
Having lived in Yorkshire for such a long time. I was so excited to finally shoot at The Chilli Barn. Tucked away next to The Otley Chevin, it’s a surrounded by the most amazing views. For Emma & Lio’s wedding I worked alongside the Oakleaf Events team. Who are an absolute dream to work with. The Barn is perfect for weddings of all sizes and has a really relaxed atmosphere. With the woodland just next door, you have the perfect spot for some alone time during your couples portraits.
Natural Retreats in the Yorkshire Dales is an amazing wedding venue. Not only is it a photographers dream to photograph, with inspiration around every corner. The staff and organisers are always super helpful and a pleasure to work with. Having such a great team on your wedding day means the you’ll get the absolute best experience and service from your wedding suppliers. Which is wonderful for us and our couples.
Stillington Mill in York
Last but not least Stillington Mill in York. A brand new wedding venue that opened it’s doors this year. A family run business this venue is steeped in personality. The owners have really carefully considered and created tons of photo opportunities for their couples. Not only can couples personalise the venue to suit them, but there are so many details that venue have lovingly created, you hardly need to. It was extra special to photograph Alison & Ben’s wedding here because Ben’s Dad had hand carved the bridge over the lake. We had a great time here and would love to be back.
