The importance of family photography
After having just celebrated our third Mother’s day with our little one. I wanted to share with you some of the reasons why a professional family photoshoot is one of the best investments that money can buy. And why I think natural family portraits are so important. Along with a recent family shoot in The Cotswolds, celebrating a very special first birthday.
It’s one of those sayings you hear all the time. Familiar with all, whether a parent or not. And yet once you are a parent, you keep finding yourself pausing. Suddenly caught off guard by how quickly they grow. Evolving day by day right before your eyes. And whilst family life is naturally punctuated by milestones that feel monumental. Maybe the first day of school or perhaps that first night away, even though you spend the whole night talking about them anyway. It’s also often bursting with smaller but equally significant chapters.
Capturing chapters & milestones
Looking back on some of the photographs I’ve taken of our son, it’s easy to see all of the different versions of him I’ve got to know as he grows. From the tiny newborn, all limbs and fingers yet to unfurl. To the active baby, eyes open wide. With his enthusiastic floor slapping crawl. Then the toddler with a quizzical gaze, finding his feet and chanting his favourite first word.
But with these smaller chapters in our lives, the changes are so subtle. Flowing from one to the other freely. I want to cherish each of the chapters and forever be able to look back and remember each of the little Eli’s that I’ve known. That’s why natural family photography is so important to me. And having regular professional family photoshoots is one of the best ways to keep a record of each chapter of family life. And one of the best investments you can make. After all, how many investments become priceless so quickly?
