Today we’re heading to the lovely Yorkshire town of Ilkley. For Kirsty & David’s relaxed winter church wedding. Followed by celebrations at Kings Hall & Winter Gardens.

Because 90% of my couples are super camera shy. And are looking for relaxed and natural wedding photography. I’m very much used to making people feel relaxed and focussing on natural candid moments. Kirsty & David were no exception. They requested absolutely no staged photos at all throughout the whole day. Although we did give in to one of the lovely bridesmaids for a photo of them together.

Now look a that cake! Kirsty & David’s wedding cake has to be the most creative cake creation I’ve seen. Mountains of marshmallows and rocky road style chocolate cake Crafted by a talented friend. It looked so realistically like snow and ice, I had to do double take. The little boy above, clearly finding it hard to resist!

Kings Hall & Winter Gardens has the most amazing backdrop of fairy lights. Such a dreamy backdrop for the first dance. It also has A LOT of multi coloured disco lights for the party. One of the first things I always do prior to the first dance. Is to introduce myself to the DJ, band or venue. That way I can ask them to only use the party lights after the first dance. Avoiding any purple and green faces or lazer lights projecting spots all over you. Which are impossible to remove in photoshop. Plus, removing them would go against my ethos of capturing the look and atmosphere of a moment.
