Hollie & Michael’s Stylish Halloween Wedding at Cruck Barn
By Creative Wedding Photographer Gloucestershire
Today I’m sharing a beautifully stylish Halloween Wedding at Cruck Barn. From the very start Hollie & Michael’s wedding was wonderfully personal. They opted for a humanist hand-fasting ceremony. Interestingly, this very ritual is where the saying ‘tying the knot’ comes from.
The day started with a morning trip to see Michael and his wedding party. I was thrilled to hear that a family friend had made their wedding rings and my second shooter Jo, would have the chance to capture his portrait in his workshop.
Eco Friendly Wedding Ideas
Another of Hollie & Michael’s ideas I loved was the ring box they’ve had made. A beautiful eco friendly alternative to traditional leather or plastic boxes.
Dogs at weddings
It goes without saying I love it when my couples include their furry little family members in their weddings. And these accessories for dogs at weddings are super cute!
Hollie looking incredible in her beautifully ethereal bridal look. I’m pretty sure if you look up the definition of pre-raphaelite hottie in the dictionary you’d see one of her portaits.

Cruck Barn is nestled behind the Craven Arms in Appletreewick, Yorkshire. The weddings I photograph cover such an eclectic range of venues. But it has to be said, Cruck Barn is the perfect setting for a stylish Halloween wedding. With it’s cosy candlelit atmosphere, roaring fires and incredible views that surround it.
Autumn Wedding Photography Cotswolds
Autumn has to be one of my favourite seasons to be a wedding photographer. With it’s crisp air, rich red and gold tones. Amongst soft natural light. Any wedding photographers dream!
Stylish Halloween Wedding Decor
When I think of a Halloween wedding, it’s hard to banish the image of plastic orange pumpkins from my mind. But it’s fair to say that Hollie & Michael totally nailed planning a stylish halloween wedding. They used William Morris as inspiration for decorating the venue. A style that complimented the setting and autumnal season perfectly. With warm soft candle light and lots of foliage creating a lovely rustic feel.
This wedding featured a very special surprise guest, Bailey the Barn Owl. Who swooped in to deliver the rings.

Halloween Wedding Photography
However the surprises most certainly don’t end there. Hollie & Michael set up a secret Halloween tipi behind the Cruck Barn. Where their guests could relax and enjoy some seasonal treats and games whilst the venue changed around.
Hollie gave a beautifully written speech during their wedding reception. Bride’s giving speeches has to be one of my favourite feminist twists on wedding traditions.
Last but not least, for the finale of their amazing halloween extravaganza, Hollie & Michael surprised their guests with a zombie band. Playing their favourite songs as they dance the night away.
